Lofoten is perfect for steep outdoor adventures. In the fall, you’ll get a three-week climbing course, glacier course, and more. In winter there will be ski touring, avalanche safety and alpine skills
For those who:
- Want to learn a lot about climbing and alpine skills
- Enjoy being in airy, steep, and high places
- Want to experience some of Norway’s most spectacular mountain areas
We make the most of Lofoten and the Narvik mountains with everything they have to offer!
– A mountain world that offers fantastic opportunities for summit tours, climbing, and skiing. The Lofoten mountains will be our primary playground, but we will also venture into other northern Norwegian high mountain areas. Altogether, we will spend about 35 nights camping, with approximately 15 of those in the winter mountains.
Through the climbing and glacier courses in the fall, you’ll gain the skills and confidence to undertake your own trips with ropes and safety gear, as there are plenty of climbing opportunities near the school.
From February onward, it’s all about winter outdoor life, and we’ll go on several overnight trips with tents. We pack up and head to Narvik to ski in the resort there, as well as do ski touring and ice climbing in the same area.
Many students who spend a year in Lofoten gain a solid foundation for further climbing activities, whether it’s sport climbing, traditional climbing, or alpine climbing. You’ll get an introduction to ice climbing, and we’ll do summit tours with crampons and ice axes if the snow conditions allow – if not, then we’ll do ski touring instead!
