Painting, drawing, linocuts, clay, glass fusing, sewing, and experimentation! Experiences, inspiration trips in Western Norway, plus an international trip by train.

This is the art programme for you if you love exploring, experimenting with ideas, and delving into different materials and your visual language.

Each week we work on different themes through the year, using the ceramic room, drawing and painting studio, print press, glass room, or sewing room with redesign.

We focus on leaving a small environmental footprint and are mindful of reuse, sustainability, and the environment.

Why choose Fjordane?

Practical introductions are provided in all topics, so no prior experience is necessary. If you already have skills, you can further develop them and work on independent projects in your preferred medium.

At the end of the year, we host an exhibition, and you’ll take home various creations and products you’ve made throughout the year.

Inspiration trips locally and abroad

The international trip will be an art, culture, and experience journey by train through Europe. We focus on eco-friendly travel while ensuring you have as many experiences as possible.

Throughout the year, we visit artists, exhibitions, and take short and long trips, both with the class and the whole school.

Between the rough North Sea and the majestic Jostedalsbreen glacier lies our folk high school – nestled in what we fondly call our "Heartplace". Nordfjordeid is just the right size. Big enough to offer everything you need, small enough to feel like it is all yours.

With 11 exciting courses, you will have the chance to discover new sides of yourself, try things you never have done before – or delve deeper into what you already love. Our dedicated teachers are passionate about their fields and want you to feel the same excitement.

Maybe your dream is to stand on a stage – as a circus artist, singer, or actor? Maybe you want to immerse yourself in the Viking history? Maybe you want a horse of your own or to work with horses? Maybe you love creating art with your hands or want to give new life to your grandmother’s old dress?

Or maybe you simply want to experience the raw nature of Western Norway and learn to stand on your own two feet? At Fjordane Folk High School, you can do all this while making a difference. 💚

Throughout the year, we participate in projects that give back to others, fostering a warmer, more inclusive community. One highlight is our study trip to the Philippines, which is part of our "Project Philippines" initiative.

Join us in creating your best year, filled with growth, joy, and friendship.
