The Nxt-Gen Film Lab will strengthen your skills as a creative filmmaker of tomorrow. Explore virtual production in Norway's first programme dedicated to this cutting-edge technology.

In the Nxt-Gen Film Lab, you'll learn Unreal Engine, real-time rendering, motion capture, tracking and AI tools - everything you need to stay ahead of a rapidly evolving industry.

Virtual production is an umbrella term that covers several different areas and techniques of film production, some of which you may already be familiar with, such as animation and VFX. Greenscreen is a technique that most people are familiar with; the green background is removed and replaced with a different environment. In-Camera Visual Effects (ICVFX) is the latest addition under the VP umbrella, replacing greenscreen with LED walls, known as LED volumes, offering endless creative possibilities and setting a new standard for how films are made.

The integration of AI is also closely linked to the Nxt-Gen Film Lab; a skill that will be essential in the creative industries of the future. The technology also raises ethical issues related to AI; important challenges that we aim to address through the education programme.

Check out the video link that will give you an overview of what Virtual Production is.

Danvik Folkehøgskole is an excellent example of how the Nordic folkehøgskole tradition helps young people get ready for the future.

In addition to promoting important life skills and Christian values, our Norwegian boarding school has built a solid reputation by giving students a foot inside the door of an increasingly competitive media industry.

The education at Danvik is divided between programme subjects, common subjects, elective subjects, workshops and practice.
Students will spend roughly half the year producing bigger projects like short movies, shows and documentaries for TV and radio, video games, plays, anthologies or photo exhibitions, all depending on which of the seven programmes they have chosen.

In the common subjects, they will encounter interdisciplinary themes like media ethics, history and advertising. As a bonus, students get the chance to learn from the best in the business on trips to Hollywood, Paris and Berlin. We also cooperate with a school in India.
