The perfect year for those who loves action, exciting challenges and festivals and events ? every day of the week all year long!

Have you ever wanted to see what it’s like to be working as a volunteer on an international festival? What about getting to know what it takes to be a manager for a big sports event? Would you rather take part in making a new and exciting local festival or event? All this, and more, is possible when you chose to spend a year at our school at Festival Event Management!

North of Norway is so much more than just nature! 
Did you know that Norway’s biggest annual international film festival is arranged in Tromsø? Outdoor cinemas under the northern lights, with the skin of a reindeer as a pillow in a couch made of snow. This, and more, offered to the audience at TIFF, Tromsø International Film Festival. That is kind of awesome! In Harstad we have Harstad Profileringspool, who os co-producing the soon to be 10 years old BAKgårdsfestivalen, where one of the headliners last year were Alan Walker. And then in june, in the land of the midnigt sun, its the Arctic Arts Festival


All these amazing festivals and event, and several others, could be a part of your daily life for a year!

The school offers norwegian language classes, with an additional fee of 10 000,- 

In the middle of fjords and mountains, situated right next to the coastal town Harstad, you will find Harstad Folk High School. We have very diffrerent main subjects, and this variety of young people with different interests, gives diversty in the social environment.

We have distinct special interest groups, and you get the possibility to try them all during a year at our school

The school can receive up to 72 students, which all live on campus and take part in common practical tasks, as well as their main subject. In addition we offer a variety of elective subjects in the afternoons. 

The coastal town Harstad in the middle of Northern Norway has approximatley 25 000 inhabitants, and is in walking distance from the school.

In the afternoons and in the weekends there are different happenings, seminars and social gatherings, like: pooltournaments, halloweenparty, hikes, bonfires, boardgames-evenings, movie-marathons, visiting historical landmarks, playing football, show-times - where we go to the theatre, the movies.

We also offer Norwegian for beginners as a elective subject, lessons in language and culture - for an additional fee
