Would you like to visualize your ideas trough animation and graphics? Have you seen some cool animation movies or computer games that inspired you? Here you can learn to make it yourself!

In this course, you will learn to breathe life into inanimate objects and characters on the screen, creating and communicating energy, humor and emotions through movement.

Animation

Animation is about creating the illusion of life, and through this telling a story.

The year begins with basic training in animation and animation principles. We animate simple objects such as a bouncing ball, before gradually moving to more advanced animations.You will get your own drawing board that you can draw digitally with.

We work in both 2D, 3D and stop motion. In 2D, we mainly use Adobe Animate software. For 3D animation, we use Autodesk Maya.

Film production consists of several phases, and on the course we go through all these phases from idea to finished product. In the pre-production phase, you will have the opportunity to develop stories, create storyboards and concept art.

In the production phase, we produce the film itself, and in the post-production phase, we add sound and edit the material we've been working on, then export it to a finished film.

When you come to school you will get all the programs you need throughout the year. You need to bring your own computer.

In the spring, the class travels on a trip to Tokyo, the world's largest city, in Japan! The city is packed with exciting and memorable experiences and is known for its distinctive combination of the hypermodern and traditional. Skyscrapers bathed in neon lights stand side by side with ancient Shinto and Buddhist temples and gardens. In these streets we get close to the culture, trends, food and not least the anime universes that the country is so famous for.

Highlights include the Ghibli Museum, karaoke, temple walks, food markets, arcades, and the countless anime centers. The programme varies from year to year, so a visit to an animation studio or an animation festival may be appropriate. Since we travel in the spring, we may also be lucky enough to experience sakura (cherry blossom).

Joint school trip to Voss

A few weeks after start-up, the whole school go on the most beautiful adventure of the autumn – the joint trip to Voss. Here in Norway's adrenaline capital, you will get elements of culture, history, nature, adrenaline and competition.

On the trip you will have the opportunity to make new acquaintances, across who you live with at the boarding school or on your line. We arrange environmentally friendly activities where everyone has the opportunity to participate on their own terms.

Games where we get to know each other
Norwegian folk dance
Concert with norwegian folk musicians

Elective course Nepal

Mandatory: Nei

Price: 32 000

Duration: 12 - 14 dager

Meals included per day: 2

This is an elective for those with great wanderlust, and who want to experience everyday life, nature and culture in mountainous Nepal, which is among the poorest countries in the world. We travel with a backpack and sleeping bag and use our own legs to move through unique areas that are not normally ordinary tourist trails. The daily stages of trekking are from 4-6 hours. To complete this trip you must be in normally good shape. You must also be prepared to exercise something before the trip.

In addition to great travel experiences off the beaten track, we want to develop knowledge and interest in alien societies and ways of life, cultural understanding, and give you the opportunity to discover new sides of yourself.

The trip is carried out in cooperation with the aid organization FORUT and their partner in Nepal: CWIN, Child Workers in Nepal.

We are a playful and social bunch of staff who want to get you on a unique school year. Here lies the opportunity for personal and professional development, new good friendships, food experiences and lots of laughter and fun.

During the school year you will have the opportunity to get to know Bergen, the city's unique charm, architecture and history, the cultural offerings and the academic communities. You can get to Bergen in 25 minutes and here you can go to the cinema, to the ADO arena, go shopping or enjoy the atmosphere at one of the many cafés. 

On your course, you get to work on subjects and topics that you are interested in, and together with your classmates you get a great trip to a relevant and exciting destination. Maybe you also want to come with us to Nepal and be enthrilled by the culture, people and landscape there?

You live, sleep and eat at the folk high school. 

We believe that living with your fellow students, creates an outstanding learning environment. By sharing accommodations with people who are different from you, you learn to work together and handle problems.

School life is a mix of teaching, good meals, joint activities, leisure time and boarding school life. The great thing about folk high school life is that you always have access to your fellow students. A year at Åsane folk high school can be the best year of your life.

Åsane folkehøgskole does not have any courses especially for english speaking students. Still, english speaking students are welcome to apply, as long as they have a basic understanding of Norwegian language, and also are motivated to learn Norwegian by their own efforts during the school year.
